SNHR joined a number of events that took place on the sidelines of the 33rd session of the Human Rights Council which was part of the advocacy efforts and to highlight the suffering and violations the Syrian people have been suffering for six years. The following are the most notable events:
First: A seminar at the Geneva Press Club: “Iranian policies and the consequences to the human rights in the Middle East & Europe” on Friday 23 September which was held by SAM for right and liberties. The speakers were: Mr. Paulo Casaca, former member of the European Parliament, on Iraq, Mr. Fadel Abdul Ghani, chairman of SNHR, on Syria, Ms Tawakkol Karman on Yemen and Mr. Tariq Shindeb on Lebanon. Second: a seminar at the Human Rights Council held by the Human Rights Information and Training Center on enforced-disappearance in a number of countries around the world, where chairman of SNHR shed light on enforced-disappearance practices in Syria saying that Syria is the worst country in the world in that respect as the number of forcibly-disappeared persons has exceeded 74,000 persons; 69% of them are forcibly-disappeared by the Syrian regime.
