Syrian regime and Russian forces are intensifying their deliberate and indiscriminate targeting of Syrian civilians in eastern Aleppo, the Syrian Network for Human Rights warns in a new report. At least 47 civilians have been killed in the last 24 hours alone, as airstrikes by Russia and the Syrian regime have pounded eastern Aleppo’s civilians neighborhoods.
“Syrian civilians in Aleppo are being exterminated,” Fadel Abdul Ghani, Chairman of the Syrian Network for Human Rights (SNHR) said. “Russia and the regime are deliberately targeting civilian areas, schools, hospitals, and civil defense centers in eastern Aleppo, making medical care and search and rescue operations impossible. Our data shows that the targeting of civilians is calculated and intentional, with Russia striking residential buildings and employing prohibited incendiary weapons, and the regime dropping no less than 151 barrel bombs. The trend is abundantly clear: without urgent action to protect civilians in the form of a nationwide no-bomb zone, Aleppo’s civilian population will be annihilated.”
