SNHR briefed the UN Working Group on Enforced or Involuntary disappearances, of the case of the citizen “Ibtisam Jum’a” from al Rastan city in the northern suburbs of Homs governorate, age 53 at the time of her arrest and asked to request of the Syrian authorities to release her as she was arrested arbitrarily on June 30, 2013, as she was passing a checkpoint of Syrian regime forces near al Abbasiya Dispensary in Homs city. Since then, we had no information about her fate or whereabouts and her fate remains unknown for the Syrian Network for Human Rights as well as her family
Syrian authorities deny enforcing Mrs. Ibtisam Jum’a to disappear, SNHR were unable to determine her fate until now, as is her family, and they are afraid of detention and torture in the event of repeating questions about her, as happened with many similar cases.
SNHR demanded the United Nations Committee on Enforced Disappearance to intervene with the Syrian authorities for her immediate release, and the release of thousands of cases of enforced disappearances and the need to determine their fate.
