The Syrian Network for Human Rights has notified the United Nations Special Rapporteur on extrajudicial, summary or arbitrary executions of the case of the Syrian citizen Nabegh Shehada al Tahhan, from al Nabk city in Damascus Suburbs governorate, born in 1976, who was arrested on January 12, 2013, by Syrian Regime forces in a raid on his parents’ house. He was later seen in Branch (227) known as the Region Branch of the Military Security Forces in Damascus city. In May 2014, his family received his death certificate during a visit to the civil registry department in Damascus city. According to the death certificate, he died on January 21, 2013.

As is the norm in all such cases, Syrian authorities have not confessed to killing Nabegh, while his family has been unable to submit any complaint about his death for fear of being persecuted by the regime security services for doing so, because of their presence in an area under the control of Syrian Regime forces.
