Damascus – October 2025
The Syrian Network for Human Rights (SNHR) received a delegation from the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR), led by Dr. Mohammad AlNsour, Director of the Middle East and North Africa Division, at its Damascus office during an official visit to Syria in October 2025.
During their meeting, the two sides discussed cooperation in joint training on international human rights law, as a fundamental step in supporting the transitional justice process, strengthening institutions, and respecting human rights. Both parties expressed interest in developing practical programmes that would enable Syrian personnel to acquire the skills and knowledge necessary to implement relevant international standards, particularly in the areas of documentation, accountability, and fairness.
The participants discussed the importance of exchanging expertise between local and international experts and coordinating efforts between relevant bodies to develop joint training mechanisms that promote the principles of justice and fairness, contribute to disseminating knowledge of human rights law, and help consolidate the foundations of accountability and justice.
